The new R1 has been designed to be the “ultimate master curve” of the Super Sport class and open one of the key management incredible lies partly in the chassis, but equally important, their ability to make energy usable the earth. For 2009 this legendary motorcycle is equipped with the new 998cc inline four-cylinder with a transverse crankshaft that runs with an uneven interval trigger 270 º – 180 º – 90 º – 180 º. This new innovative design delivers excellent throttle linearity, giving the impression that the hand throttle the driver is directly connected to the rear. The new engine and sounds sweeter than ever, and emits an unforgettable growl from the exhaust. Push to 182 hp at 12,500 rpm with a torque of 115.5 Nm at 10,000 rpm, this MotoGP inspired engine is undoubtedly the most technologically advanced ever seen on a Yamaha supersport bike. And for the ultimate in feel and controllability, the new generation R1 runs with a new chassis offering an idealized rigidity balance Deltabox.
