Yeah thats what I often do too but some bikes, like this one, have inlets that are not removeable,? so you cant be yankin too much on it if it wont come loose.

I found a solution for the jet that was stuck. Use some vice grips and pinch it from the top and turn it just enough to loosen it. I had that? problem and the vice grips worked like a charm. Great video!

Its no problem. Thanks for making these videos. I have learned a lot from them. I? probably would have sold my 305 if it wasnt for them.
By: mrmaxstorey. on 12 May 12, 19:30:29
Sorry man those are all sold, the 305 has been picked pretty clean after I used most of its parts to build another 305 (shown in 1 of my videos). I'll look around tho and see if I unearth anything?
By: dwaynelang1989. on 12 May 12, 19:28:11
Well i got my bike back together finally. I wanted to see if you have any 305 parts around that your? looking to get rid of. Mostly the ignition, grab bar, and gas cap.

Bummer man sorry to hear that, those butterfly valves are manufactured very specifically, if they are damaged at all then in my experience there isnt anything you can really do but replace them. Talk to? a reputable welder or a motorcycle shop though before you sink the money into new carbs, maybe they are skilled enough to fix them if the damage isnt too bad

i dont know if you have a video on? this or not but i found that my throttle plates wont close fully on its own i can do it manually by forcing it closed with the throttle but i think the springs are either rusted to much or the closing throtle cable isnt tight enough, also from looking at them whoever had the bike before me i guess tryed to do something with a screw diver because the plates arent completely circular any suggestions on what the best way other than replacing would be

We'll see. I bought the bike and while bringing it home it started having some problems. the gas tank was rusty so when i filled it up with gas the carbs got clogged. Theres also a chattering noise coming from the clutch when its engaged now. Once i get it back together ill have a better idea of what i need. Ill let you know if i need to take up that offer.?

Leave it in, that is there so they could use the same carbs for different bikes. Need any parts for your bike? I have? a bunch of kz305 parts lying around

i was confident after watching your videos. Now im kinda puzzled! one of the jets in the bowl of my carbs has a rubber plug in? it. Im tempted to just take the plug out since there is clearly a jet under it. 81 kz 305 csr. Any advice?

The only way that I know of to properly clean a set of carbs is to take them apart like in this video. You cant just squirt carb cleaner down them,? that doesn't get into the tiny passageways which are likely still clogged in your carbs. After each carb cleaning it is important to sync them to ensure even running, but more important than that is to do a good, thorough cleaning like in the video.

I put in new spark plugs, gapped at .035 inches. I also changed the oil. I set the pilot jets at 3.5 rotations after trying 3.0,4.0, and 4.5 rotations out. I am worried that because I squirted some carb cleaner down the carbs that I may have cleaned only certain parts or destroyed something. My question is is this the right step to take or do you know if there would be another cause? I didn't re-sync the carbs, but I never messed with them either. ? It's a Yamaha Fzr 600cc 1996

Okay, so I have it running, starts immediantly on first rotation, but it idles too high. If I floor it, it bogs slightly like a delay right before it jerks me forward, I feel like I'm riding a mechanical bull ha ha. during normal acceleration it won't jerk, but when I demand power by? openning the throttle, it'll jerk me around. Also I tested in first gear at max throttle it never smooths out, it remains jerky, like one or two pistons are producing less power than the other two.

Glad to help, let me know if you run into? any snags with your restoration

once it gets below 1500rpms it dies out if i dont catch it in? time
By: Metalfan00. on 03 Mar 12, 21:36:39
ive got a 93 zx7 myself and love the thing to death. unfortunately, i need to clean the carbs(hence why im here) and get them synced if need be. im running rich and on now 3 cylinders. replaced the plugs about 300mi. ago. its my daily so i put alot of miles on it whenever i have to head to the other side of town. Max, would you recommend a sync or would just cleaning solve? my issue? I was running on 4 and now are on 3. I have backfire in the low rpms, 2200 and below.

A new set of carbs can cost a? lot, between 600-1,000 depending on the bike. Man yplaces will charge about 400 to clean a set of carbs. I charge much less, because as you can see there really isnt much to the cleaning
By: dontworrybehappy7777. on 28 Feb 12, 05:27:12
how much are new carbs?? / how much did you charge
By: madrilessegundo. on 09 Feb 12, 04:24:30
nice video. Howevere, the jet you? could not remove is not a jet but a filter. That is the entrance of the fuel to the barrel which is shut by the needle on the float. Thanks for the nice video!

Well in reference to the carbs, nothing really besides what is? covered in the video. Ive definitely brought bikes back that have been sitting for longer than that. Once you get it running just do an overall inspection of everything, such as brakes, tires, cooling system, lights, etc before getting out on the road. Your bike is still relatively young IMO, theres no reason why it should not fly again

By: mrmaxstorey. on 24 Jan 12, 14:26:28
