the Honda is better, i ran both at 2 different resorts, the Honda sound is so much better? and you can't smell the exhaust at all.

@rrusso421 check your valve clearances on the head of the engine...if they are incorrect that causes rough idle, my 4 stroke 15 hp yamaha idles perfectly with minimal vibration...i troll for hours with it just in gear on idle and runs? fine....

@NorwegianCrows evinrude etec is a great? motor...i have a 15 hp yamaha 4 stroke kicker and it idles perfectly and very smooth...i use it as a kicker for my boat

F40LA -Advertising claim said it is incredibly smooth.? I got the optional electric troll controll that lets you adjust trolling speed from 650-900 rpm in 50 rpm increments. Upon start up at 750-800 rpm's it shakes a lot. Using troll control 2 settings are fairly smooth, 650,700. At 1000 it is the smoothest. Installed a prop brake to troll at 900-1000. I spent $800. for the troll contrll option which is useless above 900. Yamaha should retract their advertising claim of INCREDIBLY SMOOTH.

99 kilos, thats abit more? than the 83 on the regular 40 HP... Is this a high thrust engine?
