@snowyphil65 Nope you have experience and I ride with a guy that is faster on his drz than he is a sportbike. The R6 is just a much different machine and requires a different approach as do all bikes. What are you planning to do with the R6 if you did buy it?

@hinesdeal82291 ive been riding a drz-400 for 6 years, a 125 suzuki for 4 years before that, thinkin about jumping it up to a street bike, i can sling that drz400 pretty damn well, would a r6 be too much?

@dreyes288 I started on a scooter then went to the ninja 250 just like you. I got a gs 550l which is a inline 4 cruiser and I thought that thing was fast as hell for what I was used to. The R6 isn't just fast...It's very aggressive and honestly it's really not that fun to ride unless you know how to tear it up in the corners. I would evaluate what you want your bike for before deciding on what to get.

@hinesdeal82291 I rode an 80cc scooter for a year, then a ninja 250 for a year (still riding), do think it would be safe to get an r6 at this point?

@rickboy89 the 08 has a lower fuel tank and is not wuiet as twitchy

@kj7687 And it will do a solid 140 mph. At that speed, you'll already get your bike impounded and your license suspended and have an 800 dollar ticket, and they might just throw you in jail for a spell to boot. And yes, I know all this from experience...

@hinesdeal82291 I couldn't agree more. The Ninja 250 is the way to go. Or a small dual sport if you are into those. I have one plus a Ninja 500. Even that 500 is not too shabby. It will still beat at least 99% of all the cars you'll pull up next to at a stoplight from zero to sixty.

@hinesdeal82291 I started on a 03 R1 and I was Clutch wheeling 4 months into riding at the age of 17, I just turned 19 and bought a R6 just so I can actually lean the bike out when riding instead of reaching 220kph in 4th by casually twisting my wrist and inch or two! Honestly the thing you have to remember when learning to ride is that what you do wit your right hand is directly related to the rear wheel, so don't think your smarter then the bike. Treat it with respect and ease into it.

Gave HitHo92 a thumb up but it never counted.

Wow, i can't believe it! Americans are riding REAL motorcycles, not those stiffy stinky harleys.... In Germany the people in the north are the mayor group of chopper and cruiser riders, because the streets are nearly all totally straight xD. Here in the west (80km afar from the Nürburgring Nordschleife ;P) we have corners whereever you look. That's why we're riding REAL bikes :D

@GibsonElectricI Yea maybe its all of PA.!?
By: GibsonElectricI. on 12 Jul 10, 23:03:16
@pady999 No I took it at harley davidson and they teach on one of their new 500cc buells. I took it because the instructor was an ex motorcycle cop and I heard good things about him. There are other classes in town some as low as $100. In some places I heard they can be as low as $25! Never heard of free though you got a nice deal.
By: pady999. on 11 Jul 10, 05:53:56
@GibsonElectricI Holy shit $300. Is it like that everywhere?? When I took my MSF course it was free.
By: T0bbby222. on 06 Jul 10, 07:42:45

By: GibsonElectricI. on 23 Jun 10, 08:43:14
@root9king you are right. Im gonna delete some comments here because I really dont want to say that I give the go ahead to jump on this thing and go for it. What I will say is that every rider regaurdless of what they want to get should take the MSF course, that course is worth the $300, it will save your life, it has mine on several occasions. Not just in terms of riding skills but surviving in traffic with idiots who I asume are always trying to kill me. Anyway stay safe take care.
By: root9king. on 23 Jun 10, 08:18:49
@GibsonElectricI - I'm happy that you are living proof that new riders CAN learn on a modern 600 if they have the right approach, but when giving advice to other new riders, it is always better to error on the side of caution. It just may save their life. Be safe out there....you have the best 600 there is!
By: GibsonElectricI. on 23 Jun 10, 08:05:53
@root9king you might be mad at me now and think I am a stupid kid who thinks hes got the world figured out. If you met me in real life and saw how I ride my bike and how I treat other riders and how I frown upon unsafe and plain stupid riders I garuntee you would respect me as I would you. I am not in this to get people killed but I will be honest in my experiences. 28 years is a long time you know a lot more than me but you cant act like I know nothing as I been at it for a year.
